A look back at a wonderful session by Edmonton Family Photographer, Deanna Marr Photography
We are truly blessed here in Edmonton with a spectacular backdrop for fall family pictures, specifically with the amazing colors throughout our river valley. And each year, I am blessed even greater by taking this family’s portraits.
Fall Family Pictures with Co-ordinating Outfits
This family of five always comes prepared for their sessions in the most spectacular coordinated outfits. This year they came in a beautiful shade of brown that carried through out their outfits. However Mama said finding that shade of brown for their daughter was the most difficult part of getting the outfits together. The boys came in matching jackets and the same color pants. This makes it easy to get ready for the session. Generally speaking, this is half the battle.
These boys are very protective of their baby sister, and the love the three kids have for each other always shows so much in their portraits. They are always ready to pose with their sister and to smile with her. But when it comes to portraits with just the two boys, smiles can be a bit harder to come by! I usually let them take the lead and do some of the poses they have thought about. Because of this, their personalities tend to come out and for the genuine smiles to emerge.
After all, the authentic smiles truly make for the best images for your family! I rarely book family sessions back to back if the first family has small children, because I know that at times, it can take extra patience and work to find those beautiful smiles and to coax them out. Little children can be naturally wary of a new person hanging around them, especially one with a big camera who keeps asking them to stand in certain places and, worse yet, stay still. It takes them time to warm up to me.
I hope you enjoy these portraits as much as I enjoyed creating them! Visit my Families page for more of my work!
