Edmonton Love Sessions Couple Poses
February 2, 2022 By  Deanna Marr With  0 Comment
In  Couples  /  Education

These are my absolute favorite poses for my couples.

Love is in the air this time of year! As we approach Valentine’s Day, I am wanting to share with you my favorite couple poses that I’ve used in many of my Edmonton couples sessions over the years.

“I love you, not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you.”
Roy Croft

Creating feeling inside the portrait

This is the type of feeling I aim to capture in my sessions. Ultimately, I want to capture the essence of their love. As well as the feelings of joy, passion, commitment, and friendship that keep the love and bonds strong between the individuals. Even more, I love watching a love story unfold, and to watch from how the couple goes from shy and awkward to being lost in each other’s eyes and almost forgetting I am there.

I try my best to fade into the background and not intrude, besides my posing guidance at the beginning of the pose. Capturing the tender moments between a couple brings me joy. In fact, those images always feel the most genuine to me.

The Couple Poses and the Prompts

Here are my favorites and the prompts I used for each of the couple poses.

A couple poses on a bridge over looking the North Saskatchewan River in Edmonton in a love session by Deanna Marr Photography.

First Prompt – Cuddle into each other and rest your head on his shoulder. Hold her hand and both look at me.

A wife places her hand on her husband's chest and poses for a couple portrait.

Second Prompt – snuggle into your husband and rest your hand on him. Pretend like you still love each other.

A husband kisses his wife on the cheek as she looks up at the ceiling.

Third Prompt – While she’s looking up towards the ceiling, plant a big kiss on her cheek!

A couple shares a laugh during a couples fall photography session in Rundle Park by Edmonton Photographer, Deanna Marr Photography

Fourth Prompt – This time, share a funny secret with each other!

A wife snuggles into her husband and places her hand on his chest in front of a colorful graffiti wall in Old Strathcona.

Fifth Prompt – Cuddle in and place your hand on his chest while you close your eyes; hubby, look at me!

A woman clutches a man's arm as they gaze lovingly into each other's eyes.

Sixth Prompt – stand one facing me, one facing away. Grab his arm and look at each other.

The promposal pose - a husband holds his wife from behind as she lovingly touches his chin.

Seventh Prompt – hold your wife lovingly from behind. Wife, reach up and touch his chin.

Many of these I use regularly when doing Edmonton couple sessions. After all, they are simple, classic, and anyone can do them.
